If you ask me one life changing event, I would undoubtedly say one thing-the birth of my baby girl. Life never seems the same as it was one year ago. Along with all the cuteness, bliss, funny moments comes another not so funny baggage - soaring expenses.
Now let's face it. 3 packets of Nan pro, 3 tins of cerelac, 4 packs of pampers equals half of.. Ummm.. No... Equals your salary. Not to forget the little stuff like baby wipes, colic aid and the monthly vaccines. Now if you are lucky enough to spot a daycare save another 10k. Of course there are feeding bottles, feeders, walkers, pacifiers and what not. Yes! The most important potty seat which comes in most fancy shapes n sizes also has a fancy price tag. If you are a working mom you can add a breast pump and pads to the list. As your angel starts walking, you will search for squeaky shoes and cutesy slippers. The next step is the tricycle which would cost a fortune probably more than your hubby's Scooty.
Come any wedding or party you have to make sure that the Lil one is the cynosure of all eyes. First cry stops by ripping your purse with all the shiny lehengas, frilly frocks and colour jumpsuits. To top it with some gold from Bhīma which your child absolutely abhors so much so that she squashes the bangle into a hairpin curve and nibbles away the locket.
But whatever said and done, not once will you regret this long list. Bearing a child is the biggest blessing. You learn the value of everything from money to oft neglected sacrifices of our own parents. It's an eye opener which let’s you see the world in a different perspective. So all the young parents out there- forget your depleting bank balance. Just sit back, relax and get your cute ones ' pamper'ed! Happy parenting! :-)
