... Food for thought....

The taste of roasted corn lingered in my mouth even after I reached home. The snack I bought on the bus to beat the hunger pangs made me think of the food scene at Magadi.

I thought of the carts of garden fresh radishes and carrots with water dripping from the muddy roots I see while walking to the branch in the morning. Not to forget the ripe pink guavas sprinkled with salt and chilly.

On a lucky day in the late evening, you will get to taste the rich puliyogare from ranganathswamy temple which will keep you smacking your lips. The Thatte idli from the iconic Kumbar hotel served with the spiciest chutney is never to be forgotten as it will be make both your mouth and eyes water. Haha!

Has anyone heard of the vade payasa? An interesting combo of salty Uddin Vade with sweet payasa. It's mouthwatering!

What about the melt in the mouth local sweet " ginn" that is interestingly made from the first milk of the cow after it gives birth.

The masala puri from ganesh darsan or the honey cake from Iyengar bakery will depend on what kind of day I had , the former when I'm low and the latter when I'm euphoric.

Whatever said and done the speciality of Magadi is definitely the set masala dosa which is nothing but masala dosa served alongwith it's twin😃 and can be taken as breakfast, lunch and dinner.

But you know what actually fills my heart alongwith my stomach?. The sweet bananas, crisp water melons and fresh cucumbers which the villagers bring out of their harvest as a token of love. A treat to the mind and soul because it reminds us of all the blood and sweat that went into sowing and reaping by the poor farmer. Yes ! Some one once said -"The way to a man's heart is through the stomach" How true!
